A MAN has been arrested after a motorcyclist was killed in a collision in the Yorkshire Dales.

The incident happened at about noon on Saturday, October 3, on the A65 at the Courtyard, Cleatop, near Settle and led to the road being closed for five hours.

It involved a black Nissan Note car travelling south towards Long Preston and a yellow Pioneer motorcycle travelling north towards Settle.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 46-year-old local man died at the scene. He has yet to be formally identified.

The driver of the Nissan, a 48-year-old man from Leeds, was arrested at the scene and has since been released on bail to allow for further enquiries.
