A CYCLIST is on the brink of completing a charity challenge to pedal to every Anglican cathedral in England.
David Graham, 44, has covered more than 1,750 miles so far this year and hopes to finish his challenge at Peterborough Cathedral on Saturday (October 3).
On the final leg of his journey this week he has visited Lichfield, Chester, Liverpool, Manchester, Blackburn, Carlisle, Newcastle, Durham, Ripon and York.
After his visit to Durham, Mr Graham wrote on his blog: “I’m not really a religious person but during my cathedral tour I’ve taken to spending a few quiet moments inside to pay respects to my brother and also my dad.
“It was humbling to kneel at the shrine and that feeling plus I guess the beautiful music wafting over from the choir overwhelmed me. I broke down.”
A professional musician, Mr Graham is cycling in memory of his brother Allister, who died tragically in 2008 aged 32, and raising money for the charity Rethink Mental Illness.
