LIBERAL Democrats in South Durham will be keeping politics in the family, after two members of two households were elected.
Husband and wife Sam and Lesley Zair were elected to Bishop Auckland Town Council.
Sharon Ord followed in the footsteps of her father, Sedgefield borough councillor Ben, when she was elected to the Wear Valley District Council.
Councillor Sam Zair, who was also returned as a district councillor for the Bishop Auckland town ward, said: "Lesley and I are both committed to Bishop Auckland and I'm sure, like in our marriage, we can work together and be successful."
Ms Ord, who was also elected in the Bishop Auckland town ward, said: "I've always supported my dad, and I thought this was the right time to go for the council."
Father Ben, who was elected from the Spennymoor ward, said: "I'm delighted to see Sharon elected, and I'm delighted with the Liberal Democrat results in Spennymoor and Wear Valley."
