PIG racing, pony rides and cookery demonstrations are just some of the things on offer at a village fair this weekend.

Hurworth Country Fair will take place from 10.30am to 4pm on Saturday (September 19) at Hurworth Grange Community Centre, in Hurworth, near Darlington.

The annual event will include a range of attractions, including kettlebell weight lifting, archery demonstrations, pony rides, ferret racing, Ready Steady Cook competition, live music and a fairground, as well as 60 trade stalls and 20 trade presentations from the event’s sponsors.

The nearby Rockliffe Hall will also be on hand to host cookery demonstrations, while Leopolds Equestrian Productions will also be showing off their miniature Shetland ponies, as well as bringing pigs and Indian runner ducks for racing.

The fair is now into its fifth year and will feature a range of competitions, including fruit and vegetable contests and a photography contest.

Admission is £3 for adults, 50p for children, or £6 for families, and all proceeds will go towards St Teresa’s Hospice.
