A RUGBY club has been hit by a third fire in nine months.
Fire crews were called to Redcar Rugby Club at about 9.15pm on Wednesday night to tackle the blaze, which hit the changing room area.
A statement from the club said: "The fire tonight has damaged the back changing rooms and an investigation is currently underway.
"If we are to take positives from this the fire has not affected any of the clubhouse or public facilities so therefore the club will remain open as normal and we are still looking forward to an exciting Rugby World Cup and Opening Game on Friday at 8pm.
"We need everyone to pull together and support our club and the best way to do that is to come down."
The club suffered an electrical fire in January which badly damaged the changing rooms, shower areas and roof void. There was also a small electrical fire several weeks ago which was put out straightaway.
