A CHURCH hall was awash with colourful blooms as a flower society hosted its most successful show in a decade.
Hundreds of flowers were on show at the annual Darlington Chrysanthemum and Dahlia Society show at Bondgate Methodist Church Hall, in Darlington, at the weekend.
The show attracted hundreds of entries in a range of classes.
Society treasurer Brian Anderson said: “It was marvellous. If I look back over all the years I have been with the society, this is probably the best show we have had for around ten years.
“There were around 290 vases there, and when you consider that in each vase there are at least three flowers, and some with five in, that is a lot of flowers.
“There were lots of awards going, including around 20 cups.
“Last year we gave out around £510 in prize money, this year we gave out around £700.”
