PREPARATIONS are underway for an exhibition to celebrate the art of the picture book.

Youngsters will be able to delve into the wonderful world of books at the Boo! Telling Tall Tales exhibition, which launches at Darlington’s Crown Street Library tomorrow (Wednesday, September 9).

The exhibition aims to inspire children to read, draw and create their own stories through interactive sessions and visits from leading authors and illustrators.

It will also celebrate the 150th anniversary of Lewis Carroll’s much-loved children’s novel, Alice in Wonderland.

Throughout the exhibition, which runs until Thursday, October 29, a range of writers and illustrators will be hosting interactive workshops for children, adults and professional artists.

An official launch event will be held from 10.30am on Saturday (September 12) and will feature a workshop by the editor of The Northern Echo and author of the Monstrous Morals series, Peter Barron, together with his illustrator Paul Wickes.

Children from Stagecoach theatre group will also be performing the Monstrous Morals book, Fidgety Bridget Wrigglesworth.
