TWO men have been arrested after 20 migrants from Syria and Albania were discovered trying to illegally enter through the Port of Tyne at North Shields.
They were were found hidden in a lorry which had arrived from Amsterdam.
Border Force officers arrested a 32-year-old from Poland and a 35-year-old man on suspicion of facilitation of illegal immigration. They are in custody while further investigations are carried out.
Fifteen of those discovered were returned to the Netherlands by ferry on Tuesday (September 1).
Two adults are in immigration detention while their cases are progressed, along with two claimed minors who were passed-on to social services for age-assessment.
