A MOTORCYCLIST killed when he was in a collision in North Yorkshire has been named as Phillip Broadley.

The accident happened near Chop Gate on August 20.

Mr Broadley, aged 46, was from Normanby, Middlesbrough. An inquest into his death is due to open and adjourn today.

A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police said the collision happened at around 8.10pm on the B1257 between Chop Gate and Great Broughton.

"He was riding a blue and white Suzuki GSXR in the direction of Great Broughton, when he left the road and collided with a hedge," said a North Yorkshire Police spokeswoman.

"Despite the efforts of paramedics, he was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.

"Phillip was riding in company with another motorcyclist and pillion passenger who were riding a red Honda.

"Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision including anyone who was travelling along the road in either direction and saw the motorbikes prior to the crash, or witnessed the actual collision, to contact them."
