A GIRLS football club is celebrating a successful year and is all set for the new season.

Since its formation in September 2012, Bishop Auckland Girls Football Club has become a force to be reckoned with, with more than 100 players and seven teams.

And over the last 12 months, there has certainly being cause to celebrate.

The Under 10s, Under 11s, Under 12s, Under 13s and Under 15s came runners up in tournaments in the North-East and beyond, while the Ladies team triumphed at the Women’s World Cup in Darlington.

The club, based in Hunwick, has also been nominated for Junior Sports Club of the Year in the Durham Dales area at the County Durham Sport awards.

New players are welcome and the club would also be keen to hear for anyone able to provide financial or practical help with its minibus, which has a broken head gasket.
