A JUNIOR football team’s clubhouse in Dormanstown has been refurbished thanks to help of The Imagine You Can National Citizen Service.

The NCS assisted Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council with the refurbishing work by inviting 53 15-17-year-olds to completely transform the clubhouse and turn it into a hub for the area’s young people.

The new hub features a brand new computer room, with five computers and a projector, as well as furnishings donated by Imagine You Can.

The refurbishment was celebrated with a Family Fun Day, with NCS students showing off their hard work to members of the community, while raising money for charity at the same time.

Dormanstown Ward Councillor Alec Brown said the refurbishment would help the council tackle anti-social behaviour.

"I am delighted that after a meeting with Dave King and the NCS students, they agreed the project straight away” he said.

“The goal is to offer the clubhouse as a seven day amenity for young people of all ages. Dormanstown will benefit hugely from all their hard work."

The Imagine You Can National Citizen Service project saw the teenagers complete a number of activities with the aim of improving their CV and giving them valuable job skills for the future.

These activities included visits to BBC TV Breakfast as guests of business presenter Steph McGovern and Capital Radio to work with Bodg, Matt and JoJo on the breakfast show, as well as interviewing local MPs Anna Turley, Tom Blenkinsopp and Andy McDonald.
