A PARK is to stage back-to-back events - a free music festival and a town show- next month.

Six bands will take to the stage for A Party in the Park hosted by Spennymoor Town Council and Star Radio at Jubilee Park, Spennymoor, on Friday, September 4, from 5.30pm to 11pm.

The line-up includes The Black Marcs, Dirty Love, Rock and Rose, Working Class, The Vibe and High Tide and attractions include children’s rides.

A bar and refreshments will be available and visitors should not to take their own alcohol onsite.

Entry from Dundas Street, Villiers Street and Carr Lane gates only, where bag and person searches will be carried out.

Colin Ranson, the council’s facilities manager, said: “It should be a really good night.

“We wanted to bring a free event to the community so local people can enjoy live music and local bands can perform to a large audience.”

On Saturday, September 5, the town show will be held in the park, free admission from 11am to 3pm.

A marquee will hold the horticultural show, benching of entries to be made between 3pm and 7pm on Friday, September 4.

Entertainment will include Spennymoor Town Band, owl and reptile displays, a martial arts demonstration, bungee trampoline, water ball walking, quad bikes, shuggy boats and free children’s rides.
