PEOPLE are reminded that tickets are still available for a fundraising evening with Sherlock star, Mark Gatiss.

Mr Gatiss has will host an event at Darlington Civic Theatre in October in aid of a new police memorial at Darlington Police Station.

The actor and screenwriter, who was born in Sedgefield and went to school in Newton Aycliffe, is responsible for TV hits such as The League of Gentleman and Sherlock.

The 48-year-old will also be starring in the new Dad’s Army film as Colonel Theakes, and will be appearing on the BBC programme, Who Do You Think You Are on October 8.

An Evening with Mark Gatiss will take place on Saturday, October 3 and tickets are £18 and £17.

A sports evening will also be held at The Northern Echo Arena, in Neasham Road, Darlington, on Friday, September 25 from 7pm.

The event includes an auction and a raffle and a number of special guests, including Jimmy Montgomery, John Anderson, Mark Procter and comedian Rudi West.
