A WOMAN from London is trying to trace relatives from north Durham to help with her family history research.

Jill Rowland is a relative of Hannah Hughes, who was born in Lambeth and married Thomas Robson, who was born in Pelton, in 1855.

They wed in Chester-le-Street on March 11, 1878.

The 1911 census for Chester-le-Street shows she was widowed and living at 34 Allen Street with four children: James, Frank, Alfred and Eleanor Hepple Robson.

Ms Rowland said: “Hannah’s son Alfred was only two at the date of the 1901 census with his birth registered in the first quarter of 1899.

“Hannah is shown as a widow on the 1901 Census so this would suggest that Thomas died between 1898 and 1901.

“Robson seems to be an incredibly popular surname in the area.”
