A YEAR-old environmental project aimed at protecting the region’s rivers has been hailed a success.
The Wear Rivers Trust’s Rural Diffuce Pollution Partnership Project aims to stop soil and nutrients from farming entering streams and rivers.
An event celebrating its first year was held at the Three Horse Shoes pub, in Running Waters, near Durham, with farmers, landowners and others invited along to find out more.
The Environment Agency has agreed to fund the project for another year.
