A DANCE teacher has proved she has all the right moves after being crowned Miss Teesside GB.

Eleanor Potter secured the title on Thursday evening at a glittering night at Wynyard Hall near Stockton.

The 19-year-old has recently returned to the region after spending several years studying at performing arts and musical theatre at the Ravenscourt Theatre School in Hammersmith, London.

"I was absolutely delighted to win," said the Stockton teenager. "It was a really busy day but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I can’t believe they have given me the chance to represent Teesside in the Miss Great Britain finals, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year so that should make it even more special.

"These events are not all about glitz, we have to raise money for charity and that is a really important part of these pageants."

As well as the finals event, the contestants had to find their own sponsorship deals and raise money for charity, which in Eleanor's case was Global Make Some Noise who help disadvantaged children and young people in the UK.

Also crowned at the event were Melissa Crawford - Miss Newcastle GB, Sarah Douglas - Miss Sunderland GB and Lauren Wells - Miss Durham GB.

Each of the winners received a selection of prizes including a modelling contract and a place in the Miss Great Britain finals.
