A NEW housing development is leaving residents disconnected in Darlington.
The town’s Central Park estate was promoted as a modern development, close to a rapidly developing business hub.
However, those living there have been left frustrated after fighting for months for a broadband connection.
Eleanor Richmond said she was promised an active connection when she moved into a house on John Williams Boulevard but has been waiting for more than three months.
She said: “The equipment is already in but there’s been nothing but issues because BT hasn’t put a line down in this part of the estate.
“They’re not doing their job properly and it’s having a massive impact on us – I’m going through mobile phone data at a high rate and it’s costing me money to call them all the time.
“I work from home sometimes and I can’t do that – it’s having an impact on my life and relationships as we all use the internet these days to keep up with friends and family.”
A spokeswoman for BT said the delay was due to their original survey not being viable and having to revisit it and apply for necessary permissions.
She said: “We are very sorry for the delay in providing service and appreciate the inconvenience this is causing.
“We are working to resolve this as quickly as possible.”
