ORGANISATIONS and charity groups on Teesside interested in receiving The Hillstreet Bursary Scheme are being reminded that they have just one day left to apply.

The bursary scheme has already received more than 50 nominations from local groups, organisations and charities for the first of four £500 grants.

Entries for the bursary scheme will close at midnight tomorrow (Friday, July 31).

Now in its fifth year, the Hillstreet Bursary Scheme has already supported more than 17 organisations in and around Teesside, including Friends of Errington Wood, which received a grant of £500 to support its work in 2012.

Joe Dobbs, chairman of Friends of Errington Wood, said: “To receive the grant from Hillstreet Shopping Centre meant a lot to the volunteers as they are now able to welcome many locals in the area to enjoy our cherished woodland.”

Peter Drabble, Hillstreet Shopping Centre manager, said: “At Hillstreet we are always looking for ways in which we can support our local community and our bursary is an initiative that gives worthy causes a well-deserved cash injection.

“We’ve already had over 50 entries since we re-launched the scheme in May but with just over one week to go before entries close, we’re urging any local groups or organisations that haven’t yet nominated themselves to do so.”
