THE AMERICAN company behind Game of Thrones and The Wire is believed to be working on creating a “sexier” version of All Creatures Great and Small with a cast of leading A-list actors.

The tale of life as a vet in rural North Yorkshire has never ceased to appeal to audiences across the world.

Based on experiences by the late Alf Wright, who used the pen name James Herriot, it painted a gentle, humorous and sometimes poignant picture of life dealing with communities and farms in Hambleton and Richmondshire from a Thirsk practice.

But in a seemingly out-of-the-blue twist of events, there are reports that a cast of Hollywood and television A-listers are lined up to play roles in a recreation of the BBC drama.

A production insider told The Mirror: “There’s a bit of a fad for British classics after the success of Poldark and Doctor Who. There’s plenty of scope to make the storylines more modern but keep the basic formula the same.

“It’s going to be sexier and glossier and the hope is to get a couple of big names involved to help make it a success.”
