TWO young girls are practising their curtseys after being tasked with greeting Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall at England’s premier agricultural show.

Four-year-old Jessica Fox, of Thirsk, and five-year-old Kate Donnelly, of Harrogate, have been chosen to meet the Royal couple next Tuesday (July 14) at the 157th staging of the Great Yorkshire Show, which is expected to attract more than 130,000 visitors over the three-day event.

Jessica will hand over a Yorkshire white rose buttonhole to the Prince of Wales, the show's patron, while Kate will present a posy of Yorkshire white roses to the Duchess of Cornwall.

Both girls are very excited about their starring roles on the opening day of the 157th Great Yorkshire Show, Tuesday 14 July. The Show is expected to attract more than 130,000 visitors over the three days.

Jessica, whose grandmother Janet Fox, is show director Bill Cowling’s personal assistant, is a regular at the event, having first visited the agricultural extravaganza when she was two-weeks-old.

Her mother, Lynsay, said: “Jessica is busy practicing her curtsies at home, they are a bit wobbly at the moment! She is very much looking forward to meeting the Royal couple.”

Kate's mother, Emma, the Great Yorkshire Show’s trade stand officer, added: “Kate loves anything to do with the Royal family and she is already visiting Buckingham Palace with her grandmother later this summer so this has meant her excitement levels are at an all-time high.”
