A NEW project to support small organisations in Teesdale is being launched.

Teesdale Action Partnership’s (TAP) Supporting Community Organisations Small Grants Fund will officially get underway this month.

The fund has been set up to support capital projects being developed by community organisations.

It can be used for a variety of things such as building improvement works, larger pieces of equipment or improvements to outside spaces and is open for any not-for-profit or voluntary organisation in the TAP area.

It is also open to church-based groups who operate activities and services where there is a wider community benefit.

Craig Morgan, TAP co-ordinator, said: “This new fund will run alongside our already successful Children and Young People’s Small Grants Fund.

“It’s a great opportunity for small groups and organisations to get a cash boost to help them overcome any barriers which they may face and pay for things such as new equipment or repairs to buildings.

“Because capital funding is a little more complex we will be asking people to get in touch with us before they complete an application to make sure that we can consider their proposal.”

Grant amounts of between £200 and £1,000 are available with a total of £24,000 in the pot.

The scheme will be launched at the Carlbeck Community Centre in Lunedale, Upper Teesdale as part of the next TAP board meeting on July 15 at 6pm.
