A JUNIOR football club has been presented with a new bright kit.

The orange strips for the Consett Pirates U13 side was donated by the B&Q store in the town.

The team plays in the Russell Foster Tyne and Wear U13 Premier League and is based at Consett AFC.

Jane Sullivan, whose son, Lewis, 11, plays for the team, said: “It is very important for the boys that the strips have been donated because it means the parents of the players do not have to pay for them.

“It really helps us out a lot and it means we can pay for other things like away days and end of season celebrations and awards and that sort of thing.”

There are spaces for more children in year seven to join the squad.

Training is held at Consett AFC at the top of Delves Lane on Wednesdays at 7pm.

The new season starts in September but training is ongoing over the summer.

Taster training sessions are free, but joining the team is £16 a month to cover the pitch lease, referees coaching fees and equipment.
