A RAILWAY passenger has been arrested after threatening to blow up a train.
British Transport Police said a 42-year-old remained in police custody following an incident in North Yorkshire on a TransPennine Express service from Scarborough to Liverpool last night.
A police spokesman said officers were called to York Station at 7.30pm to reports of a man acting in a threatening and abusive manner on board a train.
“Officers met the Liverpool Lime Street bound service and arrested a 42-year-old man from Leeds on suspicion of a public order offence."
It is understood the man's alleged claim that he would blow up the train was not being considered as a credible threat by police and the incident was being treated as a public order matter rather than a counter-terrorism one.
