A RACE between dozens of athletes dressed as illuminated stick men drew a crowd of onlookers and photographers.

The Durham Light Score Race took place on Saturday (June 20), with around 60 people contesting an orienteering race as illuminated stick men.

Artist Stu Langley said: “We couldn’t be happier with the turn-out for this year’s Durham Light Race. The event was a huge success.

“It really highlighted how vibrant the city is and everybody who took part had a great time.”

Organisers are now looking for photographs from the evening, with £200-worth of shopping vouchers the prize for the best entry. The closing date is Friday (June 26) and the winner will be announced on Friday, July 3.

The Durham event was one of several taking place across the world under the Urban Light Score Race and the Unesco International Year of Light.
