FORGET horses, trucks will take centre stage at a North-East racecourse this summer.

Sedgefield Racecourse in County Durham is holding its first Truck Show from Saturday, August 29 to Monday, August 31.

It will include a variety of free activities to keep truckers and the public entertained, including the popular Drakes of Hazards display, rock band the Flying Oysters, pony rides, donkey display and a zoo.

For a limited time tickets cost £2.50, which also includes free entry to the racecourse’s car boot sale on the Sunday and Monday.

There will also be an opportunity to raise funds for various charities choice by partaking in the Twilight Trek on the Saturday evening.

Jill Williamson, executive director of Sedgefield Racecourse, said: “The Truck Show has snowballed from the day we announced we were taking the event on board. There has been such a buzz about the show and we’re confident it will become one of the biggest events on our annual calendar.

“We have put so much effort into ensuring all goes well and there is something for everyone with child friendly activities and evening entertainment. We look forward to welcoming everyone on the day; it’s going to be a fantastic, fun filled family show.”

Half-price tickets priced at £2.50 are available until Tuesday, June 30.
