REHEARSALS for a spectacular show are well underway at a south Durham school.

Bishop Auckland youth theatre group has been preparing for a production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber hit musical, Joseph for the past three months.

The performances will be on July 1 and 2 at 7pm at Bishop Barrington School on Woodhouse Lane, Bishop Auckland.

The group, who also rehearse at the school, encourage young people from Bishop Barrington and the surrounding district to join.

Members presently range from eight to 18 years old.

Director, Kayleigh Broom, 29, said: “The highlight so far has been seeing people come together, working really hard towards the performance. Doing something like this is something you just don’t get to do every day.”

Dance routines were choreographed by Jade Taylorson, 24, and Lisa Bain, 42, has provided expert vocal coaching.

English teacher, Victoria Downes, 35, has assessed their performances for the Bronze Arts Award, a national award recognising young people’s achievement in the performing arts, organised by Arts Council England.

Mrs Downes said: “Rehearsals have gone brilliantly.”

Tickets are £4 from Bishop Barrington School on 01388 603307.
