RECRUITING has started for two new units of police cadets.
Teenage volunteers from County Durham and Darlington are wanted for the new units, which open for applications tomorrow (Sat, June 6).
Durham Agency Against Crime and Durham Police launched the cadet scheme last year, aimed at youngsters aged from 13 to 17.
Due to its success, they now hope to create another wave of first year cadets.
The units will meet one evening a week, one in Darlington town centre and the other at Framwellgate Moor, in Durham, while there will also be additional dates for activities and trips to visit police departments or take part in outdoor activities
Training includes crime prevention and helping with public safety at events.
