TEESDALE School students performed their hearts out as part of their A-Levels last week.

As part of the assessment process for the Theatre Studies course, ten students put on their version of John Godber’s ‘Bouncers’ in front of their parents and fellow teachers.

The play, which is written for a cast of four, was adapted by Theatre Studies teacher Catherine Nergaard to allow a cast of eight to take to the stage which included students Kyle Ferguson, Lara Hockney, Millie Hall, Tom Howe, Jamie McDougal, Shannon Tobbell, Ashleigh Straughan and Luke Morris.

Sound and lighting was also provided by Sixth Form Production Arts students Brandon Hempsall and Ben Hobson.

The comedy traditionally follows bouncers Ralph, Les, Judd and Lucky Eric as they prepare for another crowd at the door of the nightclub they work at and see everything else a night out on the booze entails.

The play is one of many that Godber has written and is performed across the world.

The school’s Co-Principal, Simon Maguire, said: “It was a superb performance worthy of a professional theatre company.

“I would like to offer my congratulations to all of the students involved and to their teachers: Mrs Nergaard, Mr Gales and Mr Stanier.”
