A MAN has been airlifted to hospital by helicopter after an accident on the A19 near Thirsk.
North Yorkshire Police said the man was the sole occupant of a car involved in a single vehicle accident on the northbound carriageway near the junction with the A170 at 1.49pm this afternoon (SUNDAY).
A spokeswoman said his injuries were not yet known.
The A19 northbound has been closed, with a diversion through Thirsk to South Kilvington, after the accident, which was apparently attended by two air ambulances.
