DRUGS for use on animals have been stolen from a veterinary surgery in the North-East.

Numerous drugs were taken from the vet in Stanley and police are warning they could be harmful if consumed by humans.

A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: “These drugs are designed for animal and equine use only and would be extremely dangerous if ingested of injected by humans.

“It cannot be stressed enough how dangerous the stolen drugs are to humans, and I would strongly advise any person involved in the theft, or the purchase of any offered drugs not to ingest or inject them.”

People are being asked to report any information in relation to the burglary to the police via the 101 telephone number or the crime stoppers helpline 0800-555-111.
