A MAN seriously injured after falling 25 metres at Holy Island in Northumberland is understood to be an off duty police officer.
The Great North Air Ambulance was called to the scene at around 1.50pm on Saturday.
The man, in his 40s, sustained serious leg injuries in the fall. He is understood to be an officer with the Cleveland force.
"He had also sustained back, pelvic and arm injuries," said a GNAAS spokesman. "He was anaestethised on scene by the GNAAS doctor and paramedic crew before being flown to the RVI in Newcastle. The flight took 15 minutes."
