DRUGS designed for animals were stolen in from a County Durhan vets, prompting an urgent appeal by police.

The appeal follows a recent burglary of the Stanley based veterinary office where numerous drugs were stolen.

A spokesman for Consett CID said: “These drugs are designed for animal and equine use only and would be extremely dangerous if ingested of injected by humans.”

Anyone with information in relation to the incident is asked to call the police on 101 or anonymously via the Ccrimestoppers helpline - 0800 555 111.

“It cannot be stressed enough how dangerous the stolen drugs are to humans, and I would strongly advise any person involved in the theft, or the purchase of any offered drugs not to ingest or inject them,” added the spokesman.
