A MAN has been charged with two counts of attempting to meet a child following grooming after a video was posted to Facebook which showed him being confronted by two men in Darlington.
Durham Police said enquiries were made into the circumstances of the video - which was viewed by many thousands of people - and those involved.
A 44-year-old man from Darlington was subsequently arrested and charged. He is due to appear before magistrates later this week.
The video has now been removed from Facebook.
Detective Inspector Paul Faulkner said: “We would like to reassure the community in Darlington that this is an isolated incident and all of the people involved have been assisting us throughout the afternoon.
"We would like to call for calm in the community while this investigation progresses."
Anyone with any information is urged to call Darlington CID on 101.
