A TOWN mayor has boosted the work of good causes in her area by donating more than £3,600 to a football club and a Girl Guides group.

Councillor Pauline Crathorne, mayor of Ferryhill, has helped raise cash for the Ferryhill Town Youth Football Club and Ferryhill Girl Guides this year.

The events included a carol service, charity dinner and charity nights.

At the recent Ferryhill Town Council annual meeting Cllr Crathorne handed over £1,805 to each of the groups.

Cllr Crathorne said: “I have had an extremely busy year, but I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people and representing Ferryhill as mayor.

“When I first became mayor it was my aim to do something for the youth of our town.

“I am so pleased I have been able to do this by donating such a fantastic amount to two very worthy causes which will help so many young people.

“I would like to thank the people of Ferryhill who have supported me over the last year, either by coming along to events or by donating prizes.

“Without this support it would never have been possible to raise this amount for my charities.”
