A WOMAN arrested at the scene of the alleged murder of a North Yorkshire man last month has been released from bail.

Sarah Jackson, 38, is the wife of victim Andrew Jackson, who was found outside the Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond on Saturday, April 25.

Mrs Jackson was arrested in connection with the incident, but has today (Wednesday) been released without further police action.

The 43-year-old died a few days after being admitted to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough with serious head injuries.

Cohnor James Coleman, aged 24, was charged with Mr Jackson's murder and has been remanded in custody. He is due to appear at Teesside Crown Court in July.

The investigation remains ongoing and officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Allan Harder, of North Yorkshire Police’s Major Crime Unit, said: “Andrew Jackson suffered a very serious injury when he was assaulted in Richmond that Saturday night and he tragically died the following Monday afternoon.

“It is important that we find out exactly what happened to Andrew, therefore I am appealing to anyone who saw him on Saturday night between 6pm and 11.25pm to contact us with information about where he was, what he was doing and who he was with.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police’s Major Crime Unit on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111.
