SENIOR citizens can enjoy free trips to a variety of rural and seaside locations this summer.

Great Aycliffe Town Council is planning excursions for residents over the age of 60 from Newton Aycliffe, Aycliffe Village and parts of School Aycliffe.

Destinations include Scarborough, Berwick in the Scottish Borders, Keswick in the Lake District, Hexham in Northumberland, Blackpool in Lancashire and South Shields in South Tyneside.

Eligible residents can choose one excursion each.

Application forms are available from tomorrow (Tuesday, April 21) at the Recreation Centre, Oakleaf Sports Complex, Newton Aycliffe Library and the Council Offices in School Aycliffe Lane.

They can also be requested and sent out by post and should be returned to the Council Offices in person or by post or email by Wednesday, May 6.

Photocopied documents providing proof of age, such as a passport or birth certificate, and proof of residency, namely a current utility bill, must also be sent.
