EXTRA tickets have been made available for next month’s Foo Fighters concert at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light.

Scores of music fans have descended on the box and ticket hotlines and websites experienced big initial demand for next month’s gig.

About 50,000 people are expected to see the opening night of the UK leg of the band’s European ‘Sonic Highways’ tour on Monday, May 25..

Only a limited number of general admission tickets are left for the concert, which is the only stadium show between London and Edinburgh and fans are being urged to buy now or risk missing out.

Sunderland AFC commercial director Gary Hutchinson said: “We’re not surprised to have seen such a huge interest in this concert.

“Foo Fighters are the biggest rock band in the world and for the Stadium of Light to host the opening night of the band’s European leg of their world tour is fantastic.

“It is great that that the promoter has been able to release more tickets to satisfy demand and we look forward to welcoming the band in May and urge anyone that wishes to see the biggest event this summer not to miss out.”

Hospitality packages are still available from £175 plus VAT per person,, including a guaranteed seat.

Fans that have already purchased vouchers in-person for the gig from the Stadium of Light ticket office are urged to collect their official tickets as soon as possible.

The vouchers must be accompanied by a form of identification.

The Stadium of Light’s ticket office is open 9am until 5.30pm Monday to Friday and from 10am until 1pm on Saturdays.
