CONSUMERS in Darlington are Britain’s best complainers, it has been revealed.

According to the OnePoll survey, conducted on behalf of consumer complaint resolution website A Spokesman Said, consumers in the North-East, and in particular Darlington, get quicker resolutions to complaints than in any other part of the UK.

The survey found it took residents in the region an average of three weeks and one day to resolve a complaint.

This is significantly better than the national average of six and a half weeks, and almost three times quicker than Britain’s worst complainers, the Scottish, who take three months on average to resolve an issue.

The survey also found 82 per cent of participants were happy with their resolution, while 72 per cent said they would use the firm again if their complaint was successfully resolved.

However 85 per cent stated that if their issue was not fixed, the would go to a competitor in future.

Bill Akass, chief content officer for A Spokesman Said, said: “Our research shows that consumers in the North-East are the best in the country when it comes to getting what they want from companies who have failed them.

“Not only do they get the quickest responses – substantially faster than in many other areas of the UK – but most are happy with the reply they receive. This shows that their approach to the issue, and the demands they make, are both reasonable and effective.”
