THE largest taxi firm on Teesside is recruiting a further 100 drivers through an apprenticeship scheme offering a guaranteed job for every diligent student.

Boro Taxis has joined forces with Aim Higher Training Solutions to give unemployed local people a free driving qualification.

Out of 183 participants who have signed up since the partnership was launched last April, 120 learners securing have already secured a job with the firm which operates across Middlesbrough, Stockton and Redcar.

The only conditions for applicants are they must hold a full, UK driving licence with no more than six points, be over the age of 24 and been driving for over two years.

“They can complete a Level 2 Certificate in Professional Taxi Driving and Private Hire, with a guaranteed job with Boro Taxis upon completion, providing they participate well in training and achieve a passing grade,” said Kirsty Campbell, centre manager for Aim High Training Solutions.

“Working with Boro Taxis means that learners have the benefit of our experienced assessors, as well as a tangible job lead when their qualification is finished.

"With high, local unemployment rates it’s a fantastic opportunity for us to be able to offer a guaranteed career when the training is complete.”
