MILITARY items used in the First and Second World War will be up for auction in Barnard Castle this week.

The sale will take place tomorrow (Thursday, April 2) at Addisons’ auction rooms, Staindrop Road in Barnard Castle from 10am and includes a number of items used by the two armies, as well as a collection of medals awarded to allied soldiers.

Addisons’ auctioneer William McNab said: “These items are not only interesting objects in their own right but they also tell a much wider story of the war years.”

Lot 277 includes a group of First and Second World War British medals, including the Defence Medal, the Atlantic Star, the 1939 to 1945 Star and the 1914 to 1915 Star, together with a 1933 to 1934 Nazi Party badge and a pair of Neftix Second World War field glasses.

The collection of objects is expected to reach between £80 and £120.

All items are illustrated in the sale catalogue, which can be viewed online at addisons-auctioneers.co.uk.
