Sir, – I am a Year 12 sixth form pupil at The Wensleydale School in Leyburn. As you know the headteacher, Mr Parker, left his position in the school last week. Mr Parker taught Year 12 A-Level English language and literature at the school.

His class, of which I am part of, read your article about the situation online. We all felt the article did not do Mr Parker justice, giving a more negative light on his time as headteacher rather than that of a positive one.

All of us in his class believe that he should be shown as having a much more positive impact upon the school. Exam grades, while important, are not the only thing that show how good a school is; inspirational staff, care shown from the staff to the students and the attitudes of students are just as important. Looking away from the school's exam grades, Mr Parker is a caring, inspirational, enthusiastic man that greatly helped improve many individual student's outlook on life, their attitudes and improving them as people generally.

Therefore we would like to ask you if we could publish an article in the Darlington and Stockton Times sharing our views on how much of an inspiration he was, how much he helped those in the school and to thank him for his time as headteacher.
