A MAJOR scheme to revamp a rundown estate has taken its next step forward with the completion of 35 affordable new homes.

Erimus Housing, part of the Thirteen Group, has completed the next phase of the facelift of Grove Hill, Middlesbrough, where hundreds of unpopular and outdated homes have been demolished.

A total of 24 two bedroom semi-detached houses, three two bedroom terraced houses and eight two bedroom bungalows have been built for rent on the Bishopton Road site, in the next stage of the masterplan for the estate.

More than £2m was invested in the latest stage in the multi-million pound regeneration scheme, including £800,000 of Homes and Communities Agency funding.

Brian Dinsdale, chairman of the Erimus Housing Board, said: “We are committed to working in partnership with the council and local residents to support investment in our neighbourhoods. The completion of 35 homes at the Bishopton Road site is the most recent example of the long-term commitment we have made to drive forward neighbourhood regeneration in this part of Middlesbrough.

“We are very pleased to be able to provide much-needed new affordable housing for local people as part of this commitment, and will continue to work closely with our partners and residents to progress future phases of this development to address local housing needs.”
