AN EXHIBITION of photographs of men has opened in Durham.

London-based photographer Dee King’s new show All The King’s Men features a range of striking portraits of men from a range of backgrounds, all of whom have done something interesting with their lives or made some significant contribution.

They include actors, artists, writers and philanthropists.

Ms King said: “It started out as something from the heart.

“A friend suggested doing portraits of men. It quickly became a series of portraits of men with something in common – that they had done something quiet meaningful or important.”

The exhibition, previously at the MPA Gallery in London, will be in an empty shop at The Gates shopping centre, Durham, until at least Wednesday, April 8.

It could stay open longer if more volunteer invigilators are found. Anyone interested should email: dee@deeking.co.uk

Two new portraits, both of men with Durham connections, will be unveiled and added to the exhibition on Thursday, April 2. Further ahead, the show is destined for the Edinburgh Festival.

Entry at The Gates is free and the exhibition is open daily from noon to 5pm.
