Sir, – With reference to Sue Holden's letter (D&S Times, March 13) which claims there is a single file rule over Skeeby bridge - this is not true. The 'give way' sign means do not impede approaching traffic. The priority sign applies to the left hand lane only. Halfway across two curved arrows reinforce this. Two cars passing on the bridge have a clearance of four to five feet; that is more than enough for competent drivers. A lot of drivers do mistakenly stop, not knowing the meaning of 'give way'. Other drivers not knowing the meaning of 'priority', flash lights, shake fists and even drive down the centre of the road impeding oncoming traffic. It comes down to a lack of knowledge about the highway code.
