RESIDENTS are being urged to have their say on a major blueprint which will help shape the regeneration of Seaton Carew.

The scheme is one of the key priorities within the Hartlepool Vision to enhance the resort’s assets of the sea, beach and promenade.

The new blueprint - called the Seaton Carew Masterplan - will help guide potential investors by identifying which areas can be developed, what type of development is most appropriate for the area and when that can be done.

People are being encouraged to give their views on the document in a two-month consultation starting this week.

Councillor Robbie Payne, chairman of Hartlepool Council’s regeneration services committee, said: “Seaton Carew is one of Hartlepool’s best-loved areas and the Masterplan sets out some bold and exciting principles to guide its future regeneration.

“We are confident that this will substantially enhance facilities at Seaton for both residents and visitors alike and bring an important boost to the local economy, while at the same time protecting and preserving Seaton’s unique qualities.

“However, we need to know whether people agree with us and whether the Masterplan reflects their aspirations for the area, so it’s vital that as many people as possible take part in the consultation and have their say.”

The regeneration proposals include residential developments on three council-owned sites – land on Elizabeth Way, Coronation Drive and Warrior Drive and the former fairground site – which will release money to fund a range of projects.

People can find out more and give their views by completing an online survey at www.hartlepool.gov.uk/SeatonSPD

Copies of the survey are also available from Hartlepool’s Seaton Carew and Central libraries and from Civic Centre. The closing date for the survey is Friday, May 15.
