A CRAFT club has created a patchwork quilt for charity to help a North-East hospice.
Ten members of The Craft and Chat Club at Leadgate Community Centre, near Consett, in County Durham, have spent up to five months working on it.
The double bed sized piece has a floral pattern and is made out of hexagonal shaped pieces, hand stitched together, and is being donated to the Willow Burn Hospice, near Lanchester.
Centre treasurer and group leader Jennifer Walker, 65, from Chopwell, said: “It is a great achievement for the group. I am very proud of them and have had it on display in the hall so everyone can see what they have done.
“It is very complicated and they are a very clever bunch when they put their minds to it. It was a real team effort.”
Mrs Walker, a trained tailoress, said the group meets on Thursdays from 1pm-3pm and new members are always welcome.
She added: “People can come along and do whatever craft they enjoy, whether it is sewing, knitting or crochet.
“They need not do anything all if they do not want to. They can just come along for a coffee and chat. There is a real social side to our group.”
