THE support group for Durham Tees Valley Airport (DTVA) have been given a guided tour of another airport.
The Friends of Durham Tees Valley (FODTV) were given an insight into the day-to-day operations of Doncaster Sheffield Airport, which included a tour of the airport’s operations centre, control tower, fire and rescue station and Vulcan Hangar, which stations the world’s last remaining flying Vulcan bomber.
The group was set up in 2011 with the aim of promoting, supporting and assisting the airport wherever possible.

Lorraine Daffern, head of airport services, gave a talk to the FODTV where she discussed the future of the airport, including the Finningley and Rossington Regeneration Scheme, which will see the airport linked to junction three of the M18 via a new highway by early 2016, an extension to the arrivals hall and the recent refurbishment of Hangar 1.
Lorraine Daffern, head of airport services at Doncaster Sheffield Airport, said: “Both the Friends of Durham Tees Valley and Friends of Doncaster Sheffield Airport do tremendous work in supporting both airports.
“To have a willing group of dedicated volunteers is a huge asset to us so we’re delighted to have welcomed them to the airport for a special tour.”
