POLICE performance monitoring has had an overhaul in Durham, in a bid to make performance data more accessible to the public.

Durham Police and Crime Commissioner Ron Hogg has introduced a new Public Performance Report, with the aim of ensuring performance data is more transparent and easier to understand.

He said:"All Police and Crime Commissioners have a duty to hold the Chief Constable to account, including by monitoring police performance in their Constabulary area.

"I want to take that a step further by changing the way performance information is published.

“The new report enables the public to see how the Constabulary is performing in relation to key priorities, and also enables them to read my commentary about their performance.

"This new and interactive document will help the public to have a greater understanding of how I fulfil the scrutiny part of my role, whilst giving residents a greater understanding of how their local police force is performing."

The new performance document can be viewed at www.durham-pcc.gov.uk.

Residents can view performance in relation to crime, public confidence, victim satisfaction or by individual policing priorities, such as anti-social behaviour or road safety issues.

They can also leave comments and ask questions.
