A NEW programme to encourage people to experience walking in Teesdale has been launched.
The Heart of Teesdale Landscape Partnership is organising a series of free guided walks in the area which will be held on the second Sunday of every month from now until November.
All the walks will start at 12.30pm at the designated starting point and are part of the Partnership’s Trails through Teesdale Programme which aims to provide local people and visitors with the knowledge they need to make the most of exploring the area, by providing leaflets, booklets and audio trails.
All walks will be listed on the events section of the website at www.heartofteesdale.net and a programme of the walks is available in the downloads section.
All ages are welcome but organisers have asked people to note that routes are not suitable for pushchairs and wheelchair users and children must be accompanied by a responsible parent or guardian.
Dogs are also welcome, but must be kept under close control at all times.
Participants should wear suitable clothing and footwear and bring their own refreshments, especially a drink.
The next walk will take place on Sunday, March 8 and cover a four-mile walk from Cotherstone to Barnard Castle.
The meeting point is Scar Top, in Barnard Castle, and transport from Barnard Castle to Cotherstone is provided.
Booking is essential.
