Durham police are investigating after a woman was mugged by a man with a knife as she made her way to work in Spennymoor
A WOMAN was mugged by an armed man as she made her way to work early on Tuesday morning. (January 27)
The 44-year-old victim was walking on the York Hill Estate, Spennymoor, close to Thorn Lighting factory, at about 6.30am when she was approached by a man carrying a knife.
The attacker threatened her and demanded money so she handed over about £40 before the assailant ran off leaving her shaken but uninjured.
Det Sgt Paul Faulkner, of Spennymoor CID, said: "This sort of incident is highly unusual but we have a number of lines of enquiry we are pursuing."
